“Many years ago when meditating I used to think, “Will I ever get ecstasy?” I was afraid that samadhi would never come to me. But as soon as I gave up those fear thoughts, it was there. I said to myself: “How strange! I was afraid my mind was too restless to find God.”When I lost the fear that I would never have God, I found Him…Do away with the fear that you will never know Him. You have a claim on God as valid as that of the greatest saint…You are free to seek Him and by meditation to realize your divinity.” —

“Those who practice spiritual exercises regularly but not deeply will encounter both satisfactory and unsatisfactory experiences. While meditating on the Cosmic Sound, they may hear it clearly and feel its vibratory power and peace; or they may experience little or no manifestation at all. They may see the spiritual eye clearly, or dimly. According to their experiences of the moment, they alternate between attachment and aversion to meditation. This attitude leads to spasmodic efforts — to deep meditation after glorious results, and to relaxation of attention when good results are not forthcoming. The earnest devotee must not indulge in these retarding longings for and aversions to mediation. Ardent consistency in spiritual effort is necessary.”

April 14: Daily Wisdom from Yogananda

You can’t just sit there and wait for success to fall into your lap; once your course is set and your will is firm, you have to make a practical effort. Then you will see that whatever you require for success starts coming to you. Everything will push you in the right direction. In your divinely surcharged will power is the answer to prayer. When you use that will, you open the way through which your prayers can be answered. -
